This just in.... and I can't believe it.

Fred McKinnon just posted the sad news. Michael Guglielmucci, who was a pastor at one of Australia's biggest youth churches, Planetshakers, and is a worship leader at Hillsong Church in Australia, is a fraud.

I hope it's all a terrible hoax.

Guglielmucci and Hillsong have been tearing up the CCM charts and worship blogsphere with the hit song "Healer" recently. I even posted a review of it the other day. The song has become an anthem of hope for thousands, if not millions, of Christians will illnesses, especially as our boy was apparently suffering from terminal cancer.

Apparently indeed. The Australian and other news outlets down under are reporting that the whole thing is a hoax, that there is no cancer, and that Michael Guglielmucci was pulling a fast one. Why, no one knows.

While it's easy to be angry or dismayed at this fraud, Fred points out correctly that the proper thing to do is to pray for Michael and his family. The fact he might have faked an illness in no way diminishes the thoughts expressed in the song, and does not lessen God's ability to work miracles of healing in our lives.

Apparently, Michael's credentials have been suspended by Hillsong's oversight body, and he is seeking help. Keep them in prayer.

And keep believing in the healing.
